Wismec Reuleaux RX Gen3 Review — How Much Is Too Much Power?

The first look at the Wismec Reuleaux RX Gen3 review mod was the smallest triple 18650 mod we have seen to date. We get the massive 300 watt potential in a small package. The ergonomic feel and reduced size are complimented by a larger 1.3-inch OLED screen. Smaller mod, bigger screen. In my book, a winning combination. The RX Gen3 follows on the success of the Wismec Reuleaux RX300 vape mod. The RX300 is a quad 18650. The Gen3 lets you get a legitimate 300 watts from a smaller, triple 18650.

The Wismec TRX Gen3 300 watt TC mod is designed to be lighter and more user-friendly with updated software. It sells for $56.95 and that includes shipping costs. If you are looking for a 300-watt mod to push your high-performance vape tanks to their cloud chucking limits, the Reuleaux RX Gen 3 mod is definitely one to consider.  You get proven Wismec performance and quality combined with a low price.

To get the full potential out of the RX Gen3 mod, Wismec recommends that you use at least 25 amp 18650 batteries. You can get a three pack of LG HE4 vape batteries, one of the best, for $28.95 and free shipping. Pretty good deal. The LG HE4s can discharge at up to 35 amps. Ideal for the RX Gen3 mod.

Wismec Reuleaux RX Gen3 300 Watt Mod Review

Our Wismec Reuleaux RX Gen3 mod review is actually an overview. At least for the moment! Ken is working on the complete review right now and after he is finished testing for a couple weeks, we will update this post. We are pretty confident that this will be a winner. Wismec is a proven commodity in both mods and tanks.

Speaking of proven, successful Wismec products we want to mention a couple of others to you. If you are looking for a dual 18650 mod, then the Wismec Predator 228 watt mod is one of the best.

300w box mod by wismec with jaybo tank

The mod comes with a USB cable and an instruction manual. Wismec reports that you can use the USB connection to recharge the batteries with the mod. They tell us that the software on board allows for balanced, safe battery charging. We generally recommend using a separate charger to charge your vape batteries. But it is good to know that the RX Gen3 does have balanced charging.

Review of Limitless Pulse Innovative Pod System

Overview

Limitless is one of the big brand names in the vaping industry and it has released its latest product. Limitless Pulse has been designed as a discreet pod system product and has a refillable pod that is 1.5ml juice capacity.

This device is very light and the size can be easily placed in your pockets. It also is aimed for those who are trying to quit smoking and venture into vaping as an alternative. This product is unique because of its LED light display that can be changed.

Specifications

When you get to take a closer look at the Limitless Pulse you will notice right away on how small and lightweight it is. The device has a juice capacity of 1.5ml and can be refilled 8-12 times on average. This device has been designed to look like a discreet pen style. The Limitless Pulse has a fix power output of 8 watts and carries a 350mAh battery. A USB port is located on the side of the device’s body which you can use for charging. Once you get your hands on it, you will see it has a power button which is used to turn on and off the device. If you need to turn the device on, you need to click on the power button five times. If you need to turn it off, you also can click the same power button five times. This device has a cool feature of the LED light system.

Design and Quality

You will notice that the Limitless pulse has a very futuristic design. It is really handy because of its size and can easily be carried anywhere because it is lightweight. The LED feature of the device is really cool and the pen style has been uniquely designed. With regard to its LED display, the coolest thing about it is you are able to change the colors of the light. By just a simple press of the power button.

The Limitless Pulse carries a 350mAh battery that can last the entire day. Once your battery is drained, you are able to charge it using its USB port which can be located on the side of its body. You will notice that there are two airflow holes located at the top of the device. This device has a maximum power output of 8 watts.

This pod is different from the other pod systems that you will see on the market today. It has a pod that has been pre-filled with e-liquid.  You will also notice that this is easy to refill. All you need to do is take off the mouthpiece from the device and open the silicon bung carefully. It is easy to locate the silicon bung because there is an arrow mark pointing towards it.

When you have refilled the pod, you have to wait a few minutes for the e-juice to sit in. this is in order for the wick to fully absorb the juice. This way, you are sure that there won’t be any dry hits or burned taste that comes out from the pod. What’s great about this is there are spare pods that you can purchase separately.

There is a fire button that is located at the top of the device which is really convenient. You can turn on the pod by pressing this button five times and that goes the same for turning it off. The LED display is really great and you can actually change its colors. You can choose from red, cyan, light green, dark green, light blue and purple colors. If you are not cool in changing colors, you can also turn it off by simply pressing the power button three times.

What’s In the Box

The package of the device comes with a Limitless Pulse Pod system. The box is really designed in a very presentable manner. A spare refillable pod and a USB charging cable are also included in the package. There is also a card that contains the QR code and once you scan it you will get the user manual.

Conclusion

The Limitless Pulse is actually a unique pod system that you are able to find in the market today. It is sold at a very affordable price of $25.95. The great thing about it is it is lightweight and its size is convenient to carry around. You are able to purchase it at https://www.urvapin.com/.

CoilArt Azeroth RDTA Review

CoilArt Azeroth RDTA Review

CoilArt Azeroth RDTA Review

CoilArt is quickly becoming a highly recognized manufacturer in the vape scene. The Azeroth RDTA is a welcome follow up to their flagship MAGE RTA, which was welcomed with great reviews. CoilArt has presented us with this new atty to rival the likes of the Limitless in the RDTA market.

The Azeroth is definitely making waves in terms of its appearance. A genesis style RDTA with 24k gold plated Goon style deck, bridge posts, clamps, 510 connection and pin.

The body is matte black finish and you can also order one entirely in gold. At 54mm tall, the Azeroth also boasts four large wicking ports, a peek insulator, 4ml juice capacity and 3 drip tip options.

In The Box

  • 1x Azeroth RDTA
  • 1x Extra Glass
  • 1x Screwdriver
  • 1x Extra Drip Tip
  • 1x 510 Drip Tip Adapter
  • 2x Extra Bridge Posts
  • 4x Extra Screws
  • 1x O-Rings Bag

Out of the Box

I have to hand it to CoilArt on their quality of packaging; all their products are superbly packaged. The Azeroth is no different, looking very much at home in its relatively small box.

The first thing that strikes my eye is how the gold plating stands out against the matte black finish – this atty looks a million bucks! Paying closer attention, the up close look and attention to detail do not disappoint. You can feel quality craftsmanship as soon as you pick it up.

The matte black paint on the sleeve feels nice to the touch and looks hearty enough not to scratch without applying considerable force. The CoilArt logo looks good and is applied well onto the matte finish paint. You can tell CoilArt employs top notch Quality Assurance measures, as their attys come clean, shiny, well finished and with no smell or remanence of machine oil.

The Azeroth comes apart into 6 sections, and the threads and o-rings are a very smooth and precise fitment. The base and build deck are one solid piece, although you can see machining marks on the inside, there are no burs or rough areas.

CoilArt Azeroth RDTA Review

The Pyrex glass, which makes the juice well, is held in with 2 o-rings with just enough tolerance to hold it in firmly without being hard to remove

The fill ring then screws into the 4 threaded sections around the juice wicking ports. This has 2 o-rings, one that seals the Pyrex below and one that seals the top cap.

The delrin adjustable airflow section then fits into the top cap with more o-rings. This adjustable section reminds me of the mutation top caps, however not as slanted. To top it off you have the choice of 3 delrin drip tip options – a 12mm cloud chasing drip tip, an 8mm flavor drip tip or a 510 drip tip adapter.

The 12mm cloud chasing drip tip sits low and wide. The 8mm drip tip is obviously narrower, but sits a little higher. It is also slightly conical inside, helping the vapor travel upwards into your mouth. The 510 drip tip adapter enables you to utilize your favorite drip tip, as long as it is compatible with the 510 size.

The RDTA also comes with a spare Pyrex glass section, atty protector, a small screw driver (mine was black and longer than the usual little blue one), a bag of o rings, spare bridge clamps and screws.

Description (From the CoilArt Website)

  • 24mm Diameter
  • 54mm Overall Height
  • 4.0 E-Liquid Capacity
  • Gold Plated Bridge Posts
  • Gold Plated Clamps
  • SUS304 Stainless Steel
  • Adjustable Airflow
  • PEEK Insulator
  • Food Grade Pyrex Glass
  • Gold-Plated 510 Contact
  • 12mm Internal Diameter Cloud Drip Tip
  • 8mm Internal Diameter Flavor Drip Tip
  • 510 Drip Tip Adapter

Usage

When it comes time to building and installing your coils, you will need to spend some time preparing your build if you have not built on a Goon style deck before. If you want to fit a big coil build into the Azeroth, you are wasting your time.

The length of the screws and height of the bridge clamps and screws, will simply not allow you to run large diameter builds. Simple Claptons, alien Claptons, smaller fused Claptons and round wire builds will be all fine.

The trick, I found and remember YMMV, is to pre-cut your coils to size and install them head to head. So rather than side by side or overlapping, you have the ends touching and each taking up half the space on the bridge clamps.

CoilArt Azeroth RDTA Review

The screws tighten down easily; remember to not over tighten as you will run the risk of stripping your screw heads, the threads in the build deck or your coils themselves.

To wick the Azeroth, make sure you cut at least double the length of your desired wicking material than you normally would for an RDA build. Wick the coils normally and fold them down like an upside down U and trim them just below the top of the glass section.

The wicks do not need to be deep down in the juice channel to soak up liquid. This is because when you tilt the atty to vape, the liquid comes up to the wick naturally with gravity.

If your wicks are too far down, they take up unnecessary real estate in the liquid reservoir leaving less room to hold  e-juice.

Once wicked, at this stage you have two options. You can train the wicks along the juice ports with some e-liquid and then screw the fill ring on, or if you prefer not to take the fill ring off before building/wicking – you can fold and poke the wicks down into their respective channels.

With either method, ensure that there is still some room for air to escape around each wick by poking them to one side or making some room with your tweezers. This ensures air can flow in and out of the reservoir, which is needed to complete the vacuum effect.

Before adding the top cap on, you need to fill the reservoir. Find the cyclops shaped fill hole on the ring and add your desired e-liquid. I recommend keeping the RDTA straight and tilting your juice bottle to fill.

If you slow down just at the top of the glass section, you should be able to get just a little more juice in. If you keep going or have the atty tilted, you risk overfilling and it leaking out of the fill hole.

After filling you can add the top cap and adjust the airflow to your taste. The airflow holes should be positioned in line with the coils.

The airflow can be adjusted by holding the finned part at the top of the airflow adjustment while holding the knurled grips located at the bottom of the atty.

Airflow can be adjusted anywhere between none and 3 air holes. The turning mechanism is only held in via o rings, so it does not click into place and it can be set anywhere in between the holes if required.

Performance

The first setup I tried on the Azeroth was an A1 Alien Clapton, 5 wraps at 2.5mm diameter coming in at .24 ohm. I found this to fit quite well in the build deck once I finally figured out the build method mentioned above.

The sweet spot for this build was around 80watts with 2 airflow holes open. The flavor from this build was impeccable. It has very appealing taste and enough airflow to keep the vape cool, while still putting out a heap of cloud. This would have to be the closest experience to an RDA I have ever had with a tank style atty.

CoilArt Azeroth RDTA Review

The next setup I tried was a normal round SS316L 24 gauge spaced build, 8 wraps at 3mm diameter, coming in at 0.3ohms. I was keen to see how the Azeroth performed in TC mode and it did not disappoint.

It worked as expected, the coils read fine and it was fun to be able to dial in different temperatures. It did not kick me back into power mode once and worked fine with locking down the resistance of the coil.

The flavor of this build was not as pronounced as the Alien Clapton build, however was still very tasty and comparable vapor production.

On both of these builds I tried both organic cotton and rayon. Both were comparable with vapor production and I didn’t get any dry hits. I would say that I did get some thinner hits when chain vaping, so watch this if you are a heavy chain vaper.

I would say this would come down to coil build and the amount of watts you throw at it. Obviously a hotter build would take longer to re-wick ready for the next hit.

In regards to the 2 included drip tips, I personally didn’t find much different in performance. For me it was more comfortable to use the 8mm flavor tip, but that is just personal preference. I do think the cloud tip does look better on the atty though, not sitting as tall and helps to compact the look.

With the builds I used, the heat from coils to my mouth was not an issue. Since being delrin, the drip tips did not get hot and burn my lips – again the huge open airflow would also assist here.

I have yet to experience any connectivity issues or ohm jumping from the Azeroth.

Wrap Up

The Pros most definitely outweigh the Cons of the Azeroth. The really only Con being the small bridge clamps and gap to fit your coils into could be a challenge for some to build on. It may be deal breaker for those who like to run huge diameter builds. If this is not of concern to you and like the look of the Azeroth, I would certainly recommend you give one a try.

CoilArt Azeroth RDTA Review

Given the fact that CoilArt’s quality control is top notch, I think the Azeroth is a very acceptable product for its price point. The overall look and feel, materials, gold plating, design and craftsmanship are all winners in my view. Let us know what you think in the comments section below!

SMOK ProColor 225W Review: The Latest In Box Mod Technology

The ProColor 225 is a beautiful device that works a lot like a smartphone than a typical box mod. Gone are the tiny selector buttons, and sometimes difficult to read LED readouts. And in their place, SMOK has opted for an easier to use (after some reading of the instruction manual) interface that combines a large, OLED screen on the front (side?) of the mod that offers options ranging from wattage and temperature control to adjustments you can make to display itself.

SMOK ProColor 225W Review

Focus On www.ave40.com For More Vape Devices.

The other important features of the ProColor include:

  • Two 18650 removable batteries (sold separately)
  • Wattage range: 6-225W
  • Temperature range: 200F-600F
  • Variable wattage and temperature control
  • Compatible with nickel, titanium, and stainless steel
  • 5.0ml tank capacity
  • SMOK ProColor 225W TC Starter Kit – Spinfuel VAPE Magazine
  • SMOK ProColor 225W TC Starter Kit – Spinfuel VAPE Magazine
  • SMOK ProColor 225W TC Starter Kit – Spinfuel VAPE Magazine

And that’s just the short list. The ProColor does have more features than there are colors in the rainbow, so if you are not a fan of finding your ideal vaping settings, then the work you have to do to go through all the various options on this SMOK mod might frustrate you.

But, then again, if you do enjoy that quest to find the vaping sweet spot then the ProColor is an ideal device for you. If you’ve already tried something like the Alien, also from SMOK, the ProColor is similar, save for that new interface and the LED shield with which you control the ProColor.

The ProColor kit, (there are a standard edition and an EU edition that SMOK sells on their website) also comes with the very popular SMOK TFV 8 Big Baby Tank. The Big Baby tank continues to be a go-to option to pair with the various other mods out there.

Unboxed It

Inside the wonderfully colorful box the ProColor comes in, you will find (standard edition):

  • One SMOK ProColor mod
  • One TFV 8 Big Baby tank
  • One V8 Baby Q2 0.4ohm pre-installed coil
  • One V8 Baby T8 0.15ohm coil
  • One replacement glass tube
  • One USB cable
  • One User’s manual
  • Spare parts bag (o-rings, rubber bands for the tanks)
The WOW Effect

As I mentioned up top, the ProColor functions more like a modern smartphone than most other box mods that usually have a thin OLED screen with along the side with only a few selector buttons to change only the most basic settings. There is significantly more you can do with the ProColor than with other box mods.

But first off, the ProColor is a great-looking device. It jumps out at you with vibrancy and loudness. After fiddling with the controls that oversee your vaping experience, the menu also offers options that may be a bit trite, but they do go a long way in personalizing your mod. You can adjust the frequency of the RGB backlights and also the layout of the screen itself.

And talk about personalization, the ProColor (if you buy directly from the SmokTech website) comes in eighteen (eighteen!) different colors and patterns. There is, of course, the standard wattage and temperature controls, memory settings, and switching between different coil types than most other box mods feature.

I’ve always been a fan of the Big Baby Tank mostly because of the wide-bore mouthpiece and also for the versatility of the coils that can be used with it, although the incredibly tiny fill port continues to be a thorn in my side. And this is evident by the coil options included with this kit that goes from dual coils, all the way to eight coils.

The SMOK ProColor utilizes, like the Alien, a longitudinal firing bar that runs alongside the mod, but you only need to press on the upper portion to activate the mod and to fire it. It has an overall symmetrical design that I thought was very fetching.

Of course, the OLED screen and the number of things that it enables you to do may distract you from the overall performance of the mod, but I found that it wasn’t the case since the two are directly tied to each other. Familiarizing yourself with the interface and the wide-range of possibilities can only add to your overall vaping experience rather than taking away from it.

  • SMOK ProColor 225W TC Starter Kit – Spinfuel VAPE Magazine
The ProColor 225W – Customizing

There are nearly five different screen settings that can be used on the SMOK ProColor. These range from:

  • Main Screen: This screen allows you to check your battery life, adjust temperature, and wattage, your puff count, and which mode (nickel, stainless steel, titanium) you are vaping.
  • Mode Setting: Here you can customize even further the different modes you vape in (nickel, stainless steel, titanium), lock-in your pre-heat settings, adjust your wattage levels
  • Screen Setting: This screen allows you to customize the layout of the screen by letting you change the displays, the colors used, the way the lights flash and the notification settings

All in all, if you are already familiar with the interface used on the Alien then transitioning to the ProColor should not be that hard, but otherwise, you should do some tweaking around with the interface and manual to see what you need to do exactly so you can master the device.

I found that the various screens were not so hard to adjust, but they were just bothersome. I can appreciate a device that lets you tweak the basics of your vaping experience, like temperature and coil resistance. But the color display and RGB backlights? These options didn’t appeal to me whatsoever, and I had little interest in controlling them.

As for the more nuts-and-bolts parts of the ProColor like the tank and its connection to the mod, there were pretty standard. One thing I must mention is how the screen does intuitively warn you about certain things, like if you have screwed on the tank too tightly, which will prevent the device from working.

And of course, there are other little warnings and notifications that you can also adjust and choose with the help of the LED screen like an automatic battery cut-off and low battery warning. You can adjust between all of them using a combination of the side-bar trigger and the two selector buttons.

Shades of Vaping: Trying Out the ProColor

I used the ProColor first with the pre-installed stainless steel coils and loading the tank did prove a bother with the tiny fill port on the Big Baby. And after you did fill up the tank and attached it then came navigating the device by going through all the various adjustment and variations.

I started simply enough, just by first turning on the device with five clicks of the firing button that takes you to the main menu. From there you could directly start vaping by just setting up all the features you want. You can adjust the wattage, temperature, and voltage and then press the firing button to start vaping.

Choke, choke. As Ric Flair used to say, “Wooo!”. There was some serious vapor coming off of the ProColor. I swung the airflow valves on the bottom of the tank wide-open, as I usually do, and the mouth-to-lung hit was superb. I counted my vapor trail lasted at least five seconds when I exhaled.

And then, I decided it was time to take this baby for a real test drive. I switched out the dual coils for the octupole coils, which have a resistance of 0.15ohms. I set the wattage to over 60W and went for a temperature of 450F.

I held the firing button, inhaled from the beautiful,  wide-bore mouthpiece, and everything else in the room just disappeared behind an all-consuming, white, poltergeist of vapor that left me momentarily feeling like I was in one of those sensory deprivation tanks.

Serious cloud. The flavor was another story. I was using Maui Sunrise from Mt. Baker, and I wasn’t impressed by the lack of different flavor notes. I switched back to the dual coils and set the wattage lower. Only I wasn’t as pleased as I would have been with a lower wattage device that had a closer to above ohm resistance on its coils.

The ProColor Among Other Mods

The ProColor has a lot of similarities with its older brother the Alien, but I don’t think it fair to compare the two, mostly because they are from the same company. I decided to pair the ProColor against the Innokin Coolfire IV TC100 since it has a comparable power output and other adjustable features.

But the Coolfire IV TC100 doesn’t feature that funky OLED screen and so many of those other features that set the ProColor apart. Only those things that the ProColor that are supposed to set it apart, I don’t care for anyway. I liked the simplicity (at least for a box mod) that the Coolfire afforded me along with the consistent flavor and cloud production.

The ProColor does have that Big Baby tank I do love though and those two different coils that went way beyond sub ohm to deliver humongous clouds. This is a tough one. The screen and options on the ProColor are distracting and boring, quite frankly, but the device still performs well. So, for that characteristic alone, the vapor production, I give it to the ProColor.

My Appreciation

LOOKS

I said it from the outset, the ProColor fulfills the promise of its name and explodes with color and vibrancy. And with over eighteen different color schemes to choose from, there is no shortage of colors to please any and all kind of vapers.

USAGE

While the OLED screen held, I think, too many options to tweak and change, just holding the ProColor like you would with a smartphone I thought was a novel way of updating the device and was enough to set it apart from other box mods.

CUSTOMIZABILITY

There’s no shortage of customizable features on the ProColor. There are the standard options like TC and variable wattage settings, right down to how the backlights flash. There is so much you can do to personalize the device you might forget to vape with it.

Not What I Expected

CUSTOMIZABILITY

Yes, the customizability on the ProColor is both a pro and a con. The range of things you can personalize on the ProColor is ample, but some of them are only for the ProColor itself and have no effect whatsoever on what you plunk down $60 for, namely, vaping. I found them to be unnecessary and tiresome.

TOO MUCH POWER

275W? Really? I can understand how sometimes you might need an extra kick above 40W, but 275W? That just seems like overkill.

Wrapping Up The Whole Thing

The ProColor started off well, but then, as I got bogged down by the endless series of customizable options, I just gave up. Again, if you like that sort of thing, then the ProColor would be right up your alley.

Regarding portability, I wouldn’t necessarily call it the most portable device. It’s probably more of an at-home device. And the power options, while ample, didn’t seem to reflect my ideal vaping levels, as it pushed the envelope too far and unnecessarily.

It is, however, a very well-made device. The inclusion of the Big Baby Tank was a coup, along with the two coil types that provided variation, although the flavor was not as rich as I would have preferred to have it.

Background: Smok VENENO 225w Kit

I think I know where Smok Tech got the idea of Veneno Box Mod design, inspired by a racecar which is the Lamborghini’s Veneno Spyder. They have the same name and has a similar design in it. Honestly, If I will design a Vaping Device I would probably do the same, creating an awesome racecar-inspired Mod.

Smok Veneno 225w Kit has LED lights on almost every part of it. The kit has a sub-ohm tank (produces huge clouds) which is the TVF8 Big Baby Tank with 5ml e-liquid capacity.

Design: Smok VENENO 225w

Smok Tech’s Veneno 225W Box Mod, from what I am observing they focuses more on the design features of this device. Thinking out of the box on how their product will stand out from the rest.

LED Lights everywhere! from the front of the Box Mod to large LED lights on the back up to the Atomizer Tank. Is it useful? I should say this is more on the aesthetics part. For me, the best design that I really like on the Veneno Box Mod is the Large Ergonomic Button, a very useful and beautiful design for a hassle-free firing experience.

Performance: Smok VENENO Kit

The Smok Veneno 225w Kit is a Beginner friendly device. If you are just planning on switching from smoking to vaping this is definitely for you. Veneno 225w Box Mod is fully equipped with safety features. The best safety feature that I like with this device is Short Circuit and Overheating Protections and its 10 Seconds Cut-off.

While this is a Newby Friendly device, we are definitely recommending this also for advanced users. The Smok Veneno has a maximum output of 225 watts that is enough or I should say too much extra power. Your Cloud Chasing game will be satisfied with this Box Mod, it can power up any Sub-Ohm coil builds (Just be careful, don’t go to low. Always check for safety).

Look at those green lights, it looks like a booster on a racing track

Smok VENENO Kit VS Similar Kits

  • Smok G-Prv 2 vs Veneno 225w – In terms of power that these two Box Mods can provide, they are equally similar in performance, but The Veneno 225w Kit is much cheaper than Smok G-Priv 2 with only $87.00compared to $99.99 G-Priv 2.
  • iJoy Genie PD270 vs Smok Veneno 225w – LED Lights Showdown! These two devices both have shiny glowing features. iJoy Genie PD270 with RGB Lights while Smok Veneno 225w has 12 color options of LED lights front and back. If you will ask me I’ll definitely go with Smok Veneno 225w, because of its looks and having more customizable lights.

Final Thoughts on the Smok VENENO 225w Kit

My overall impression with Smok Veneno 225w is good. Another new and unique vaping device to put on my list. What makes this as a unique Vaping Device, of course, the LED lights everywhere  it is very unusual to see this kind of Box Mods, this trend is similar to customizing your own desktop computer.

Aspire REVVO Tank Review: The ARC Coil System Delivers The Goods

Aspire was the first EVER company to release a proper sub-ohm tank, so it has some pedigree when it comes to innovation. The Aspire REVVO is the company’s latest tank and, like the Aspire Atlantis, it is hell-bent on shaking things up once again in the sub-ohm tank space.

And this time, the innovation is ALL to do with the coils used inside the Aspire REVVO. They’re kinda different to what most of us are used to with respect to sub-ohm tanks. But are they any good? Are they better than the standard-issue coils we’ve all grown used to?

Read on to find out…

Aspire REVVO Tank Review – Design

There’s a new generation of coils coming out that are flat stove-top type coils made of a solid piece of metal with laser-cut grooves, reminiscent of old notch coils. I’ve seen them on the new Haze RDA, and today I’ll be talking about Aspire’s version called ARC Coils aboard its REVVO sub-ohm tank.

Aspire REVVO

Aspire REVVO

The Aspire REVVO Tank has a 3.6 mL capacity and the flat coil press-fits into the top and is held in place with a flared threaded screw that holds it in place. When you fill the tank, the instructions say to flip it upside down for a few seconds to saturate the cotton pad.

When I bought it, the saleslady said I would have to tilt it on occasion to keep the wick wet, but I didn’t find this to be something I had to do that often. Just the natural action of vaping seemed to tilt it enough to keep the wick mostly wet.

The airflow is located at the top and is adjustable. This top part is mostly plastic with a metal band, so if, say, you had your mod in a bag and it was accidentally firing for a while, this plastic will melt and fill your air holes.

Don’t ask me how I know this.

The kit comes with a replacement glass tank and extra coil, but unfortunately no extra top. So don’t do that! Another nice little touch is that it comes with a cap that you can use to cover the mouthpiece if you’re prone to getting pocket lint and the like in your mod.

The composition and design of the tank is solid; it feels sturdy like it could handle a kicking, and it all slides together and apart very easily. Aspire is a US brand and it makes fairly robust, quality gear. The Aspire REVVO Tank is no exception in this regard.

Aspire REVVO Tank Review – Performance

best vape tank

The flavor off of this tank is nice. It’s not the best I’ve ever had, but it is definitely above average, though it pales in comparison to the UWELL Valyrian in this regard.

Since there are no wicks hanging down in the tank, the Aspire REVVO tank looks really clean and smart. The instruction manual is very clear and easy to understand too, which makes setup, even for newbie vapers, very simple indeed.

I’ve also seen people re-wick these coils by cutting a cotton pad to fit the coil and sliding it under the spokes that hold the wick against the coil, however, these coils are fairly inexpensive, so whether you’d want to do this is kind of up to you.

best vape tank

Based on the coil that I burned the cotton out of, the coil/plate seems pretty sturdy, it held intact and scrubbed up fine, so I would expect it to last a while before it starts to degrade.

Overall ARC Coil performance is VERY impressive, however – a good couple of weeks, at the very least. And that puts coils like SMOK’s well and truly in the dust. Couple this with the relatively inexpensive nature of the coils themselves and you have yourself a winning formula.

Aspire REVVO Tank Review – What I Like?

Overall, I am very pleased with the design and flavor of this tank, and I foresee more devices in the future going towards this style of coil. I also love the design of the Aspire REVVO – it’s smart, classy, and extremely well put together.

Aspire’s ARC Coils are very impressive. A solid couple of week’s worth of usage before burnout is very good, indeed. This fact alone places Aspire’s coil system ahead of 90% of the sub-ohm tanks in existence right now, so hats off to Aspire for knocking the ball outta the park in this regard.

Aspire REVVO Tank Review – Things To Keep In Mind

Because the ARC coils are fairly new, choice is kind of limited at the moment, so if you’re the type of vaper that likes to use a range of coil options, you’re probably best off waiting for more to appear.

Flavor is decent, but it’s not market-leading. I found the UWELL Valyrian to be vastly superior in this regard. Everything is as it should be with respect to flavor, it’s just not quite as intense as I’d like it to be.

Saying that, I’d 100% take slightly muted flavor and have coils that last weeks over exceptional flavor and coils that barely last a week.

You can’t replace the drip tip. This isn’t a deal-breaker for me, even more so when you factor in that the one on the REVVO is very decent, but for those that like very specific drip tips it is definitely something to keep in mind.

The big USP here is the ARC Coil. It delivers exceptional performance and, most important, they last a long time. If you’re after a sub-ohm tank with reliable coils, the Aspire REVVO comes highly recommended.

SMOK RESA PRINCE TANK PREVIEW

Introducing the SMOK Resa Prince Tank, a sub-ohm tank that’s structurally sound and fabricated with complexity using a very appealing resin material. Based on the original Prince Tank, SMOK decided to add a touch of flare with a resin shell, while still delivering impeccable performance from the use of the V12 Prince Coil Family. This incredibly designed tank delivers everything one could ask for, including quality, appeal, and performance, a trio of perks that will make the Resa Prince Tank go down in history as one of the best and most innovative tanks of 2018.

Meet The SMOK Resa Prince Tank

Meet the SMOK Resa Prince Tank, a high-performance sub-ohm tank constructed of durable 304 stainless steel, as well as additional protection and appeal with a visually stunning resin shell. The resin shell adopts SMOK’s popular Cobra design found with drip tips included in the TFV12 Series tanks. On top of its appealing body, it also features a matching 810 resin drip tip with the traditional Cobra design to complete its look. While the actual tank portion of this unit is constructed of borosilicate glass, it features a bubble design that allows for a larger 7.5ML e-liquid capacity. To fill the tank there is a push button positioned towards the top that when unlocked the top part of the tank slides open to reveal a top fill feature. Moving towards the bottom reveals dual adjustable airflow control with large air slots for superior airflow. Further enhancing the performance means utilizing the V12 Prince Coil Family, a combination of three included coils. Enjoy a very open, airy and high-performance experience with the V12 Prince-Q4 Coil that is a quadruple coil and has a resistance of 0.4ohm. The V12 Prince-X16 Coil is a sextuple coil and has a resistance of 0.15ohm, delivering a slightly stiffer draw and an ever greater wattage range. The V12 Prince-T10 Red Light Coil is the newly redesigned decuple red light coil that has a resistance of 0.12ohm — this coil emits a red light each time the tank is activated/in use.

If you were a fan of the original TFV12 Prince Tank, you’re going to love this reimagined version that features a resin shell. Its performance is top notch and the looks are even better. When viewing this tank it’s easy to see how the use of resin materials have given manufacturers another way to interest us in products, be it they deliver the same performance as another or not. The open airflow and high-performance coil options is certainly what makes this tank, but the resin shell and its high appeal is what makes it better.
